Continuation of the conference
Throughout the conference we saw fascinating presentations from Al Gore, Yohannes Gebregeorgis, the President of ALA- Camila Alire and many other interesting active librarians. We had lunch with the group who creates the Read Posters and spread out among our various intersts.
I got to see the writer of Checklist Manifesto while Ashley and Ava saw many other professional presentations. I also saw a presentation from WorldCat local. Feel free to ask me about any of these experiences.
The first day
When we attended the Conference we spent the morning listening to the writer of "Eat, Pray, Love," Elizabeth Gilbert.
The Conference itself was filled with workshops and big exhibit floor that housed publishers, database companies, digital technology, etc. Walking around the exhibit floor was so easily overwhelming especially when everyone wanted to see if you were worth their time.
During the middle of the day Ava presented to a room of nearly 50-100 people. She was in the company of another woman who spoke on her experience with the Library of Congress. Ava gave her presentation on map catalogin
Boston Arrival
The Boston ALA Conference lasted from January 15-19th, 2010. Ava Iuliano, Ashley Fisher and I all traveled together to attend the Conference.
Unfortunately we did not attend the Friday presentations but we received a catalog on Saturday morning of all the events.
Ava and I were primarily interested in Special and Academic Libraries. We both looked for reference sessions and any other related sessions. Ava was especially interested in cataloging sessions and I attended many guest speakers.
Ashley was primarily interested in Youth Services. She attended many session
We stayed at the Omni Parker Hotel, which was very regal. The lobby of the hotel has gold elevator doors and had good service. We were fortunate to stay in such a convenient location, a bus stopped right in front of our hotel to take us to the conference building each day. This service was paid for by GALE.
